This month's main features: The Blue Sapphires of Bo Ploi By Peter Grummit Blue sapphires were first discovered 35 km north of Kanchanaburi about eighty years ago and the town of Bo Ploi, which in English translates into ‘Gem Mine’, was established. In the late seventies sapphires were also discovered further north at Ban Chong Dan.
